We live in eastern Idaho, just a few hours from Yellowstone National Park. In 1999, Soo and I had a son and named him Dustin Robert. We call him Dusty. We both feel that a family pet is a wonderful experience for children, so after much research in selecting the right breed of dog for our family and our lifestyle, we chose the Great Pyrenees. What a good decision this has proven to be.

Our first Great Pyrenees was named Gates Henry's Get Navarre CGC TT VA. His call name was Romy (short for Romeo). Our second Pyr is Ch. Tip'n Chip Legend of Isabeau TT VA. Her call name is Julie (short for Juliet).

Our third Great Pyrenees --and the first we bred ourselves-- is Simon. Simon is the son of Julie and Sneaker (Ch. Saddleridge Special Force).

As a breed the Pyr is calm and patient, even as a puppy. But don't get us wrong. They are not living plush toys. When playing with our young son, Dusty, supervision is needed because dogs play differently than kids. Further, dogs grow faster than kids. A large breed puppy like the Great Pyrenees will soon outweigh a young child and the rambunctious play of a young child and a pup could cause some bumps and tears if parents are not careful.
