Percent contribution describes the influence of individual dogs or kennel lines on your dog. It is not the same as the Inbreeding Co-efficient, which calculates the degree to which your dog is inbreed using repeated appearances of an ancestor in your dog's pedigree.

The Inbreeding Co-Efficient calculation results in a single value expressing 'how inbred' your dog is. Moreover, it indicates the probability that two alleles for any gene are identical by descent ( John B. Armstrong 1999).

Percent contribution calculates a seperate value for each of 'line' that you select. Values are weighted by generation, and sum to 100% (when totaled with 'OTHER' lines). In essense, this gives us the maximum significance an ancestor (or ancestral line) plays within your dog's genetic makeup.
