I enjoy the outdoors and consider myself a conservationist. I am not an environmentalist nor am I going to pretend that hunting satisfies some primal or spiritual need in my soul. Rather, I will say this: Hunting is fun.

It is not killing game that makes it fun, it is the "hunting" that makes it fun. If you do not understand what I mean that is probably because you have never hunted. It is indeed one of those things in life that must be experienced to be appreciated and understood.

Hunting is not just shooting. In fact shooting is an extremely small part of the hunt. In my mind however, hunting is the recreational side of the sport and shooting is the business side. When it is time to shoot I focus on the task and that is to quickly and cleanly kill the game while maintaining the utmost standard in hunter safety.

I enjoy shooting rifles, handguns, and shotguns. I enjoy hunting big game primarily but have recently begun varmint hunting as well. When in lived in Wisconsin some years ago nothing was more fun than bird hunting with our Laborador Retriever Kelly. He excelled at both upland bird hunting (especially Ruffed Grouse) and waterfowl hunting over decoys.

As an avid shooter, I am also a reloader --I could not afford to shoot this much otherwise. I take pride in being able to produce superior ammunition that is tuned to my particular rifles. My .338 Winchester Magnum is capable of less than 1" groups at 100 yards (95% confidence) and my .220 Swift can do even better while pushing the 40 grain bullet over 4,300 fps.

In 1988 I was lucky enough to take a 10 point White-tail buck that weighed nearly 200lbs field dressed and scored 154 points (B&C). This large buck was awarded an NRA "Hunter Acheivement Award" and now hangs proudly in our home.

In 1992 I hunted elk in the Bob Marshall Wilderness of Montana. While I did not fire a single round, I was lucky enough to bugle in several bulls including one wonderful 6x6 that kept just enough of his body hidden at all times. I will never forget the sounds, sights and smells (those rutting bulls are sort of...odoriferous) of those special moments in the wilderness.
