My .416 Rigby is another very fine rifle. It is a Ruger no. 1-H (Tropical). The ballistics shown below use 400 gr Barnes banded solid bullets. This was a difficult load to develop as I needed two different types of bullets (a solid and an expanding "soft" point) to have the same point of impact at 100 yards. The solution after two years of development and testing was a pair of Barnes bullets, the Barnes solid and 400 gr. Triple Shock. The 416 is a legendary caliber designed for the large, dangerous game of Africa. I visited Africa years ago and would like to return someday to hunt the Cape Buffalo and plains game like the Kudu, Oryx (Gemsbok), and Zebra.
