I have been fortunate enough to visit several countries outside North America and in my journey's
I am always searching for great food. This begins with several Internet searches well before I leave
and sometimes culminates in a culinary moment to savor and share.
- Rainwater's on Kettner, San Diego, California, USA
- I enjoyed fantastic prime rib at this wonderful restaurant. I also recall the most delicious mashed potatoes and cream corn...sounds simple but they
do it in such a way that it is hard to describe. It must be tasted to appreciate.
- The Royal Hotel, Durban, South Africa
- By far, the finest lamb I have ever eaten was at the Royal Grill, in Durban's Royal Hotel. This lamb was from the Karoo, South Africa's "Great Plains".
- Fogo De Chao, Fort Worth, Texas, USA
- After enjoying this restaurant I know what it feels like to be meat drunk. I truly enjoyed the Picanha and Alcatra
- La Chaumierre, Washington DC, USA
- This country French restaurant in DC (Georgetown actually) is just great and is the highlight of many of my trips to DC. Try the Fricasse of
sweet breads followed by the cheese and bread plate for a wonderful meal.
- Snoopy's Pier, Corpus Christi, Texas, USA
- We tried this restaurant on vacation in Corpus Christi. The restaurant is located just off the Gulf on South Padre Island drive...the seafood is delivered to thei
pier by the fisherman and the menu is a chalkboard (you know that means fresh). I could not stop eating the oysters...just too good.
- Heitmiller's Steak House, Waco, Texas, USA
- This simple restaurant is sort of the hole in the wall type but the Chicken Fried Steak is exceptoinal. Don't expect valet service
or fancy linens...just consistently good food.
This list is a work in progress and someday it may contain more than ten of my favorite restaurants.
