I found a breed selection guide on the Internet. This guide --unlike many I have found-- was quite useful as it asked questions about our lifestyle in order to select, or rather score (100-0%) the breeds. While this guide is no longer available, other guides can be found on-line .
| Interestingly, the only breed that scored 100% was the Great Pyrenees. The Bassett hound was a close second at 95% as was the Havanese. | |
Family discussion time. The top breeds were examined and discussed.
We were intrigued by the Great Pyrenees so some additional research was merited.
I found a contact for the national breed club (The Great Pyrenees Club of America) and contacted their representative.
| Kerry Kern-Woods sent me a list of breeders in the region. She also recommended a few breed books to read. | |
We bought our first book on the Great Pyrenees and read it thoroughly.
Family discussion time.
Still very interested in the breed, we contacted a few of the breeders and asked some questions about the breed and their breeding program/puppies.
Family discussion time.
